We offer fantastic opportunities for students looking for funded postgraduate research degrees or who are self funded or have already obtained funding.

 

Norwich Research Park BBSRC Doctoral Training Partnership

The John Innes Centre is the lead institute in the Norwich Research Park BBSRC Doctoral Training Partnership.  This programme offers a broad breadth of postgraduate research opportunities in the biosciences, conducting cutting edge research and enhancing the park’s dynamic research culture.  This programme offers fully funded four year PhD studentships, recruited onto advertised projects at the institute.  If you would like to learn more please continue reading here.

 

Rotation PhD Programme

The institute, in partnership with The Sainsbury Laboratory and The Genome Analysis Centre also runs a prestigious, world-class Rotation PhD Programme.  This programme is renowned for its academic excellence and groundbreaking research.  The programme attracts elite candidates from around the world and offers fully funded four year PhD studentships with enhanced stipends.  Students recruited onto this programme pursue three short research rotations during their first year, with the aim of enhancing their research training, before selecting a supervisor and a topic for their 3-year research project. Students benefit from experience of a wide range of experimental approaches and research environments. BBSRC Industrial CASE Studentship

There are a variety of other funded PhD studentships advertised over the academic year including awards made for the BBSRC Industrial CASE Studentship Programme where candidates get the opportunity the gain strong industrial collaborations as part of their PhD.  All advertised projects can be seen here.

 

International Scholarships

JIC offers International Scholarships to up to 2 outstanding candidates each year towards the cost of the tuition fees.  For further information please click here.

 

Self Funded / External Funding

We welcome applicants who are self funding or who are have gained external funding onto 3 or 4 year PhDs or 1 year Master of Science by Research degrees.  Students may also study part-time.  If you are interested in pursuing this route then please read here.
